Teacher Post. May 22

by class6m

Participating in this project has become increasingly difficult due to being a specialist teacher who only sees the class for one 50 minute session a week.  We are continuing to work with in the theme “with our thoughts we make the world” but the session is spent refining group performances and not blogging and keeping journals.  Students have been encouraged to blog at home but the kids seem to forget about it or see it as ‘extra’ homework.
In regards to the group performances, we have had 6 sessions working on the performance pieces.  This classes performances have represented what the theme “with our thoughts we make the world” means to them.  Performances range from topics about ‘ A world without music’ to the importance of the community respecting teachers and how important teachers are to kids.  All in all so far performances have progressed well.  The kids and I have agreed that some of the powerful messages are a little lost due to the lack of dialougue and a crowed stage.  The kids are working towards developing the tension and conflict to enhance the power of the messages also.

A note to my students: Well Done 6 M.  Keep up the hard work your ideas are great and I look forward to seeing the finished products! )
Finally, students have also worked hard towards achieving the criteria (which I have included below for anyone’s interest).  For students to working AT the expected level they must do the following.  (please note there is also an ABOVE and BEGINING criteria that students can choose to work from)

I have co-operated at all times with my group

Everyone in my group knows their parts

I have shown flexibility when organising character roles

I am focused during 100% of the time during my groups performance

My group’s performance some conflict within it

My groups performance has 3 contrasting elements within it

My groups performance has 3 freeze frames within it

My voice is clear 100% of the time during our performance

My facial expressions suit my character and the mood of the performance

I have contributed ideas for our music and SXF to enhance the mood of our performance

    Hi Sharon,
Good to read your reflection on the performance making and the blogging process - challenges and limitations. It sounds like you are doing some really interesting work. I’d like to put a link to your blog from the Drama Australia VINE web page in case people want to go quicky to see an example of a primary school vineblog.
    Hope this is OK
    cheers
    Jo
