Participating in this project has become increasingly difficult due to being a specialist teacher who only sees the class for one 50 minute session a week. We are continuing to work with in the theme “with our thoughts we make the world†but the session is spent refining group performances and not blogging and keeping journals. Students have been encouraged to blog at home but the kids seem to forget about it or see it as ‘extra’ homework.Â
In regards to the group performances, we have had 6 sessions working on the performance pieces. This classes performances have represented what the theme “with our thoughts we make the world†means to them. Performances range from topics about ‘ A world without music’ to the importance of the community respecting teachers and how important teachers are to kids. All in all so far performances have progressed well. The kids and I have agreed that some of the powerful messages are a little lost due to the lack of dialougue and a crowed stage. The kids are working towards developing the tension and conflict to enhance the power of the messages also.Â
A note to my students: Well Done 6 M. Keep up the hard work your ideas are great and I look forward to seeing the finished products!
Finally, students have also worked hard towards achieving the criteria (which I have included below for anyone’s interest). For students to working AT the expected level they must do the following. (please note there is also an ABOVE and BEGINING criteria that students can choose to work from)
I have co-operated at all times with my group
 Â
Everyone in my group knows their parts
Â
I have shown flexibility when organising character roles
Â
I am focused during 100% of the time during my groups performance
Â
My group’s performance some conflict within it
Â
My groups performance has 3 contrasting elements within it
Â
My groups performance has 3 freeze frames within it
Â
My voice is clear 100% of the time during our performance
Â
My facial expressions suit my character and the mood of the performance
Â
I have contributed ideas for our music and SXF to enhance the mood of our performance |

Group: Eric, Madison, Emma, Stephanie, Jake, Matt
Today our group did a performance called “Music”. We established our roles and the criteria. Our performance is about what it would be like without music and with music. We performed our act to another group to see what they thought of it. They also gave us some opportunities for improvement which were…..
1: To make better eye contact
2: Face the audience
3: Have better voice projection
The audience thought that our topic and Ideas worked well.

Group members: Laura, Steph, Anthony, Nath, Joanne, Adrian “Schools Out!!!”
Today was a very productive session for our group. We got our characters organised (principal, 2 teachers and 3 students) Our play is about teachers who go on strike because their wage. This fits into the theme “with our thoughts…..” because we think that everybody should be able to share and respect their and others opinions. We think teachers should be able to get paid well because they teach kids everything they need to know and they make it fun too.
We worked on the class criteria and we are aiming for “above the expected level” and we just need to change a few things to get there. An Opportunity for improvment is to focus on the freeze frames and to keep better focus when performing.
We added a drum today to add a angry, loud mood for when the teachers go on strike.

Today we walked into class and saw a heading on the board that said “with our thoughts we make the world”.  Everyone had baffled look on their faces and were wondering what it meant.   Mrs Byrne got us to sit on the floor and then she told us what it was all about.  We then had an activity to do.  Mrs Byrne put us into groups and we had 4 minutes to discuss and make a freeze frame shape or picture with our bodies.  People did a positive or a negetive scene then after that they did the opposite.  Our first activity was a group of children playing in the street.  Then we tried to show how terrorism changed things for children in war torn countries who don’t have the freedom to play outside. Â
Todays lesson was very productive because everybody worked together as a group and we all got a chance to have our say on how we felt.Â
